Lydia is pretty, I like it a lot. Not a name you hear often here in Australia, not sure why though?

Lydia is beautiful. I like that Lydia was a leader of the early church and a successful business woman in the Bible. The only negative association I have is Lydia Bennet, but there are so many people and characters named Lydia that it doesn't overshadow the name.

I'm absolutely in love with Lydia! It always reminds me of the character Lydia Martin from Teen Wolf, a strong, beautiful force to be reckoned with. For that reason I'm a little intimidated to actually use such a powerful name, and I'd wonder if my daughter would suit the name.

My opinion of this name is kinda rude, so I'll just say it's not for me personally!

The first time I ever heard the name Lydia, I loved it, and my opinion has never changed, despite the annoying Lydia in Pride and Prejudice. I prefer Lydia to Lidia; I like ys, and Lidia looks like it's from a language/culture I'm not part of.

I really like it. I like both spellings, but Lydia works better in English speaking countries.
I know a few Lydia's of different ages. I still find it unexpected, and refreshing to hear.

I like it pretty well, as Lydia.
Lidia looks Hispanic to me so I want to say it differently - LEEDia instead of LIDia. That's fine, but not as easy for me, so it appeals less to me personally.Lydia seems classic but unpretentious to me. It's like Laura only less plain.

I love Lydia! And I agree with everyone else that Lidia just doesn't cut it. Both the Bible character and the tie to Pride and Prejudice appeal to me. I love the sound and that it's underused. Plus I love the nn 'Lydie'.

LOVE! Lydia is such a gorgouse and stunning name, which that alone doesn't even address its beauty or my affection for it. I love the way it looks (Not Lidia however) and the way it sounds, including the adorable nn of 'Lydie!' (:
If it wasn't for a niece of mine with a similiar name, I would use Lydia on my own potential daughter, no questions asked. Perhaps a bit cliché to say but that never rang more true with this beautiful, beautiful name. ♥■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□■□♥

I like the name just fine, but it's not a favorite. Especially not after watching "Breaking Bad" in its entirety.

I love Lydia! Lidia looks like it’s missing something. It just doesn’t have the same spark.I worry about it becoming popular though, as people look for easy alternatives for the popular Olivia. I think I like Nydia better simply because it’s one more degree of separation away. It’s also a little more uncommon, always a plus for me.

I think Lydia is better.

Do you like the name?

Hi !!!Both Lydia / Lidia are actually place-names. I have no ties with that region (Ancient or modern) to justify its usage as given name. But this is just me...

I would think being a Biblical name -of a person- makes Lydia well established enough for its place name origins to be basically irrelevant.

Right but for very long it has been used as a name. Unexpected response from you.

Hi A !!!I obviously know that it is an established name infact it is an old-favourite of mine because of its refined sound. If I think about a name that I really like I pay attention to the meaning. My favourite names are infact simple-meaning names often related with nature and sky like Stella, Rosa, Luna, Alba, Celeste, Flora ...Lydia / Lidia are far better than a lot of names for sure.. but they are not special.I've just realized that my answer was actually quite ambiguous... maybe I had to clarify that I meant my personal usage of it as given name.

I get where you’re coming from. I LOVE the name Judith, but I’m a little squeamish on ising it irl, even though I don’t think most people associate it with being Jewish (which I’m not). Most just think of it as an old lady name. It still feels false.
