[Opinions] Lyons
I'm tentatively considering using this name for a future male character.
So what do you think? And how would you pronounce it?

It's not as bad as Lion, but nearly all Leo- names are more appealing. It'd make a cool surname though. I'd pronounce like lions.

*as "lie-ons" it sounds kind of like Lance drawled, but it also just sounds like "lie-ons" and "lions"
*if lee-ons makes sense at all as a pronunciation, I'd prefer that
*in French, it sounds kind of like "lih'un"?
*I guess "lawnz" is a possible pronunciation? though that'd be an unfortunate oneIt's distinctive, maybe also a bit self-important and cutesy. If that's what you're going for, then okay. If not, then Leon would be better.
...Lionel, Liram, Lonzo, Lewin, or Llyr might also be options?

Like the word 'lions'.It's a common surname. I'd just use Leo or Leon, it's much more believable.I could believe it as a MN if it was a family surname, say his mother's maiden name.

There's plenty of surnames being used as first names, what's so hard to believe about that?

I just find that when an author uses a name that is uncommon for the area or time period it bothers me. It's just too try hard. I'd be much less distracted if it was a character named Lee or Leon. Or Tyler. If I met a kid in real life called Lyons I'd eye roll, but yes I would accept it as part of the surname trend. I might even wonder if it was inspired by the show 'Empire'.
