I've warmed up to Dora considerably because that's the name of my Chihuahua. Actually, her full name is Teodora but we call her Dora after the cartoon (and even Dorita, surprisingly). Between Dora and Mona, I much prefer the former since I can't shake the 'moan' association.

I love Dora! It’s sturdy but also buoyant. I prefer it to Mona, which I do like.

I used to be indifferent to it. But Theodora is obsessed with Dora the Explorer and she tends to repeat only the last bit of the long words she hears. As such, she calls herself Dora. Hearing somebody I love so much introduce herself that way has really warmed me on it, but only as a nn.

Mona is a common porn star joke name, so definitely Dora.

It sounds dated to me, though I like other -ora and -aura names, such as Laura, Nora, and Cora. I prefer as a nickname of Dorothea, Dorothy or Theodora, and I prefer it's better than Mona IMO.

I can't break the "Dumb Dora" association or the association with Dora in "David Copperfield" who was, in fact, dumb.

Note: I know the phrase "Dumb Dora was so dumb..." from the game show "Match Game", which I watched in the 1970s, because I'm a fossil. Just now I decided to look into whether or not "Match Game" was using a phrase which was at one time well-known, which seemed likely, and found that this was the case:

Mona is not as bad as Dora.

Well between Dora and Mona, I'd definitely pick Dora. Although I'm not crazy for it and it just makes me think of a door and of that irritating children's program. But it sounds at least better than Mona.
I'd pick 'Doria' between the both of them though. I think it sounds really stunning.
