I absolutely love Georgina - it's my daughter's middle name and may have been her first if there hadn't been a George born into the family a few months before she was! I would have called her Georgie too.
I think it's slightly better to use Georgina rather than Georgie as there's more nickname potential for her to choose from when she's older. But no reason not to go with Georgie if you don't like Georgina. I know lots of children with nicknames as given names, it's not really unusual these days.
