[Opinions] Malachi
What comes to your mind when you hear the name Malachi? For a boy, obviously
I enjoy the Biblical associations, it's strong without being too overbearing and or pompous.
I like other spellings Malakhi , but I don't like 'Malakai' (I don't believe the nickname Kai should be used for it).
So what do you think?
Malachi Albert
Malachi Edmund
Malachi Felix
Malachi August
Malachi Francis
Malachi Anthony
Malachi Horace
Malachi Timothy
Malachi Benjamin
Malachi Isaac
Malachi Joachim
Illuminosa, immortalis
Sancta gloriosa

While it has a great meaning and there's a biblical story about it, I can't help but feel it seems modern, like Maverick.
MAlakie is the only pronunciation given on this site, but a friend of mine always said maLAKee. She was an Irish nun! So it's got some confusion built in, for me, and is also unlikely to be used outside Christianity/Judaism, with neither of which I identify. I'd say it's one of the better biblical names - that is, among those that haven't been fully accepted to the extent of having largely lost their biblical 'feel', like David and James.
I think of malachite, which I think is pretty/vibrant/soothing.
Also, to a lesser degree - mallard ducks, outdoor wear, Malcolm, Mordecai, malarkey - green - rugged, serious type, somewhat quirky maybe.
I like Malachi Francis and Malachi Benjamin.
Random combos
Malachi Laurence
Malachi Peter
Malachi Nilam
Malachi Cicero
Malachi Ebenezer
Malachi Jerome
Malachi Cedric
Malachi Florent
Malachi Summer
Malachi Emmerich
Malachi Emmanuel
Malachi Bernard
Malachi Leon
Malachi Trevelyan
Malachi Dmitriy

I like the sound of it. I like Malachi and can bare Malakai as well, but I don't like the look of Malakhi.
Malachi Joachim is awesome, even though I'm not typically big on biblical names.
Malachi Francis really ruins the beauty of Malachi to me.
Felix, Benjamin and Horace work well.
Although Albert and Edmund are nice in style with Malachi, I wouldn't start a MN with a vowel.
Similar sounding names with a consonant like Malachi Redmund, Malachi Robert or Malachi Talbot would have a better flow, although the don't give off quite the same vibe.
Suggestions:
Malachi Bernard
Malachi Philip
Malachi Gideon
Malachi Somerled
Malachi Joshua
Malachi Jonas
Malachi Richard
Malachi Louis

Straight up makes me think of Children of the Corn and I can't deal with it lol. It's a really cool name but it sounds "mal"icious. I prefer Malachy by a lot even though it's not much different. The ee vs the ei ending makes a big difference in how menacing it sounds. Malachy is totally teddy bear-esque compared to Malachi.
