[Opinions] Jonas, Jonah or Jonathan? (more)
Replies
The Jonas Brothers are too recent in pop culture for Jonas to be usable (without being whispered about, if not outright mocked).
Jonah and Jonathan are both fine. I like Jonathan a bit more, but it's just a matter of personal preference. No one would look askance at either name.

Jonathan - first pick; handsome, warm
Jonah - runner-up; strikes me as cuddly when young, trustworthy/dependable as an adult
Jonas - doesn’t appeal to me particularly but surprised it hasn’t caught on given the popularity of the “Brothers” (I can’t hear what the fuss is about but no denying there is a fuss); oh, I see it did catch on but I missed hearing of any

Jonah. I think it's such a classic and charming name and you don't hear it very often. This is the name I had chosen for one of my leading characters with the nickname Joey. (: I think the name suits him well.
Jonathan is definitely a decent name but it's so common and generic that it wouldn't be my first choice. (At least not with this list)
And as for Jonas: I don't mind it but I do see it more as a surname.
In order of prefrence:
Jonah
Jonathan

Jonathan
Jonah
Jonas
Jonathan is kind of boring, but Jonas and Jonah are even more nms.
Jonas seems weak to me, and Jonah is a bit less so but still whiny.
I predict that in 25 years they will have an image about like Joshua does now (less overused, of course, but there are no names that are as overused as names used to be).

I do know of a toddler named Jonas! I think it's a cool name, and am also surprised it isn't more common (particularly with the popularity of the Jonas Brothers... or maybe it's not that popular because of them, idk).
They're all great names, but my favorite is Jonathan. It's currently in my Top 10.

My preference for them is in the order you have them written-- Jonas is my favorite, Jonathan my least.
Jonas looks like it peaked right as the Jonas Brothers were getting really popular (peaked the same year as Miley) and then dropped, probably because of the association (though they're probably considered a bit more wholesome and Jonas is a name without them which saved it from dropping off entirely).

Hi Perrine !!!!
Jonas* 8/10 I find it suitable for many language both pronounced with J or Y. I perfectly agree with you: it is simple, short, traditional but also lively. I don't know why it is underused...
Jonah 5/10 boring. I much prefer Yonah.
Jonathan 6/10 old-fave of mine but currently very boring. I prefer just Natan.
