Help[Games] Royal Year Game
A slightly different take on the royal year game I’ve posted in the past! This one is set in England, around the 19th century, and has a lot more events to make up for the lack of choice in nation!
Name your starting couple from the namebanks below, or however you see fit - they can be King and Queen, or Prince and Princess (and hence heirs to the throne). Roll for their appearances with dice from http://www.brockjones.com/dieroller/dice.htm:

1-4: brown
5-6: black
7-8: blonde
9-10: red/ginger/strawberry blonde
Eyes (d10)
1-4: brown
5-7: blue
8-9: green/hazel
10: grey
Each year, you can choose to roll for a child event, a story event, or both. Optionally, roll d8 for anyone under 8 or over 60: if you roll an 8, that person unfortunately passes away. If a child is unmarried by the time they’re 18 (or whatever age you choose), you can roll d3 - a roll of 3 means they get married and you can roll for their spouse’s looks, and choose a rank and nationality for them. If a spouse dies, their widow/widower can remarry at any time.

Kingdom events (d10)
1: An important and trusted royal advisor dies, and must be replaced - none of the candidates are ideal.
2: A series of killings by an unknown murderer leaves the entire nation shocked and on edge.
3: Protestors gather, demanding reform to an aspect of Britain’s political system.
4: Tensions are rising between Britain and another nation… (roll d2 - 1 means the situation is resolved diplomatically, 2 means Britain goes to war)
5: The country faces a shortage of food, or some other essential.
6: A new prime minister is elected, but quickly proves to be wildly incompetent and unpopular (can’t imagine that happening in this day and age…)
7: A new service is introduced to the country (for example, new railways)
8: An epidemic sweeps the nation.
9: Religious issues divide many people, and occasionally lead to violence
10: A new scientific theory is proposed.
Family events (d10)
1: The family’s main residence changes
2: Some or all of the family take an extended trip to another country
3: A member of the family falls pregnant or gets someone pregnant out of wedlock - the pregnancy can be hidden and the baby given away, the child kept and passed off as a distant relation, or, if the family member is unmarried, a marriage can occur.
4: A royal marriage is proposed - if you choose to accept, your eldest unmarried child is married or engaged to a member of another royal family
5: An argument leaves a deep rift between two members of the family
6: There is an attempt on someone in the family’s life (roll d3- 1 means they survive with no consequences, 2 means they survive but with physical or mental consequences, and 3 means they die)
7: Two members of the family grow closer
8: One of the children causes trouble and is sent away for a period of time
9: The family gets a pet
10: A fire breaks out at a palace
Personal events (d10)
First, go to the “full roll” section of the dice site: enter the number of people in your family, and then hit ‘roll’. Count that number down your family - the person you end up on is the person to whom this event will happen.
1: This person falls seriously ill
2: This person falls in love with someone, but for whatever reason the relationship cannot work out (if the person is too young to fall in love, they want to be friends with someone but cannot)
3: This person takes up a new hobby or skill
4: This person joins the army, the church, or a political group
5: This person argues with another member of their family
6: Someone to whom this person is close dies
7: This person makes an enemy
8: This person gets increasingly involved in politics, which naturally isn’t too popular with some people
9: This person makes a visit to somewhere they haven’t been before

Shortly before Leonard's birthday he suddenly passes. The Kingdom is very much saddened and mourns for a time before the attention turns to Ambrose. The Crown Prince of the United Kingdom. Ambrose is crowned King and Eleanora his former love affair is crowned Queen. Ambrose and Eleanora don't have much love in their relationship anymore. Eleanora wanting a divorce and Ambrose knowing it would cause an uproar or a disturbance.

Tabitha only two begins taking up art. She enjoys finger painting and drawing messy yet charming creatures and people.

Ambrose and Eleanora have a very heated debate over producing an heir. Eleanora storms out and refuses to speak to Ambrose for a time. If the Queen is currently infertile or refuses is could mean divorce.

Leonard Prince of the United Kingdom became King when his elderly father, Octavian passed away. While the country and even Leonard were mourning they began to prepare Leonard for his new role as King. As a young teenager he was set to have an arranged marriage with Clarissa Duchess of Cambridge, Josephine's older sister. Clarissa ended up passing away before Leonard could marry her. Instead the Hamilton family proposed Leonard marry their youngest daughter. Leonard accepted and Josephine were married. Josephine and Leonard didn't love each other at first but over time their love grew and blossomed.

While the country and even Leonard were mourning they began to prepare Leonard for his new role as King. As a young teenager he was set to have an arranged marriage with Clarissa Duchess of Cambridge, Josephine's older sister. Clarissa ended up passing away before Leonard could marry her. Instead the Hamilton family proposed Leonard marry their youngest daughter. Leonard accepted and Josephine were married. Josephine and Leonard didn't love each other at first but over time their love grew and blossomed.

Queen Estella was also in attendance at the meeting, and had some good ideas about how to relieve the citizens of some taxes, but maintain revenue flow to cover the cost of importing most items.

Women's rights activists again stage protests outside Parliament, which this time descend into violence. Queen Alexandra voices her approval for the sentiment, if not the practice, of the protests.

Although Leopold and Alexandra have gotten along very well for 16 or 17 years of marriage now, they were never quite in love. However, when the Danish king and some of his family come to visit, Leopold cannot help but be taken with the king's sister, Christina, whose husband died some 6 years ago. Naturally, the relationship could never be, but Leopold confides his feelings in Alexandra all the same.

A few weeks after the twins turn 14, an explosive argument kicks off between Leopold and Thomas. They refuse to tell anyone what it was about - Thomas won't even confide in Lotta - but the two of them refuse to speak for almost three weeks. Eventually, things cool down, as Thomas finds a new target for his outrage: Lotta, who has now been speaking with Prince Christian of Denmark for 3 years, tells her family that she would indeed be happy to marry him. The engagement is arranged within a few days, and although Thomas isn't happy at the idea of the loss of his sister, everyone else is thrilled. The couple will be married when Charlotte is 18.
