Hyacinthus is great on a character. On a child is too long.
Hyacinth (unisex) is better. In Italian Giacinto (the flower too) is a masculine name so in my opinion it's better than Hyacinthus on a boy.

Would be fun for a character in a book. Absolutely ridiculous for a real child.

I agree. It's a great name to think about theoretically, but it seems a bit over the top for a real person.
