[Opinions] Re: WDYTO Richard?
in reply to a message by Eruchalu2015
Richard was my go-to male name for many years, mainly for honoring purposes. It's a family name: my paternal grandfather (goes by Rich); as well as my paternal grandmother's father (Dick), her brother (Rick), and his son (Ricky, and later Rick). (My grandma was surrounded by Richards.) My great-grandpa died when I was four, but I have very fond memories of him; and I have a very good relationship with my grandpa. (I like my great-uncle and cousin, too, but I see them less often.) I think the likelihood of me naming my son Richard, if I ever had a son, would be very high.
My favorite nickname would be Rick (Ricky when he's a kid - like what my cousin did). Dick was a valid nickname back in my great-grandpa's day, but, sadly... I keep looking back on what I just typed and wondering whether I should censor that nickname...
