I'm with Lovekids--it's handsome cute, and southern...and rugged! I LOVE rugged. And Dustin Lynch sure doesn't hurt, either!

Neither happens where I live, and both seem awful. I dislike unisex names, and OK, Gene only sounds unisex, but we hear names far more often than we read or write them. And I loathe Justin. Dustin only makes it worse. At gun-point, I suppose I'd go for Gene, but it'd hurt.

With Gene, I think of negative stereotypes related to wealth, like...unctuous, elitist. I'd have a somewhat similar reaction to Richard, Charles, Herbert, Glenn, Warren, but I don't hate it as much as Glenn or Warren, at least. Maybe Gene is more in the group of Herb and Charlie.

Dustin is like... Colby, Kyle, Dakota, Austin, Rusty. It feels dated and brings to mind tumbleweed and rambling, aimless...dust in the wind...

When I visualize them as people, Gene is wearing a ridiculously expensive watch, and Dustin is drunk.
It's easier to imagine Gene as a kid, though, which I think makes it easier to warm up to. I expect Dustin to be my age or a little older.

Gene. Dustin reminds me too much of Dustin Diamond, who is apparently kind of a jerk, and Dustin Hoffman, likewise. Too bad, because Hoffman is a fantastic actor.

I'm surprised that people associate Dustin with cowboys! I guess I think of Gene as being more cowboyish because of Gene Autry.

Dustin, definitely. Gene is an old-man name, and it sounds exactly like the woman's name Jean. Dustin's got a sexy vibe to it.

Dustin. It’s handsome and also cute. Very western/southern sounding to me, which is a good association for me.
