[Opinions] Serenity?
I know ive asked this before but it good a really good response. Im really having trouble deciding if its a good idea to use the name Serenity for a girl. I love the word and what it means but is it going to far calling your child that name?

I think a lot of "virtue"/word names are cheesy, esp. ones that end in -ity for some reason, i.e. Trinity, Charity, and also Destiny. I just really dislike them, and Serenity falls in with that lot for me. :-/ More than anything, though, I think of the adult diapers/ incontinence pads with the brand name Serenity. Not something most children want their name associated with. :b

Serenity is the brand name of adult diapers.I personally think Serena is a gorgeous name, though.

It is a nice name, but I prefer Serena.

I don't really care for it. I also don't like the fact that the word 'serenity' is usually in the title of retirement communities. Serenity Springs, Serenity Woods etc...Serena is gorgeous though, and rarely used. It has the same meaning, but is more of a 'name' in my opinion.Good luck!

LOL about retirement communities. Along those lines, it makes me think of senility. :-/

Seems like the type of word name that's just begging to come out the opposite.. don't like it, except for maybe on a cat.--

I wouldn't use it, I don't like names that give a 'stamp' on the child. The meaning is nice, if it fits, but what if she turns out to be a tomboy?(of course I'm a hypocrite, because I like the name Allegra, to me that's less a word than Serenity though..)

I think it's perfectly possible to be both a tomboy and "serene."What I'd worry about is if the child were nervous and neurotic. :)
