Isn’t this the name of Kat von D’s Sphinx cat? Strangely enough that’s my first thought. The second is, of course, Beethoven. I picture his crazed head (wild hair and wild eyes). Good name for a pet, not too keen for it on a human.

I don't find neither the "lud" nor the "wig" appealing. It reminds me of the British cartoon from the 70s (called "Ludwig") about an egg shaped shiny gemstone thing that played violin(?) and lived in the forest So by proxy it makes me think of writers who were high as ballsI think it's perfectly fine to use in Germany though

It's a very popular name here, from my generation to newborns. I like it alright, but dislike "Ludde" which 99% of them goes by...

Sounds "elderly, tired, but skilled doctor".

Happiest in its native Germany; doesn't export well.I rather enjoy Ludovic!

I like Ludwig, but only because of the connection with Beethoven and Wittgenstein. I think it would be a good choice to honor either of those men, or simply to connect with old Germanic roots. I like Wolfgang too, for the same reasons.
