[Opinions] WDYT of Sparrow?
As a mn only. I think it's too much as a fn.

I like it, but it's a sad name to me. I instantly hear Simon and Garfunkel's "Sparrow," which is not cheery. Here are the words:
Who will love a little Sparrow,
Who's traveled far and cries for rest?
"Not I," said the Oak Tree.
"I won't share my branches with
no sparrow's nest,
And my blanket of leaves won't warm
her cold breast."
Who will love a little Sparrow,
And who will speak a kindly word?
"Not I," said the Swan.
"The entire idea is utterly absurd,
I'd be laughed at and scorned if the
other Swans heard."
Who will take pity in his heart,
And who will feed a starving Sparrow?
"Not I," said the Golden Wheat.
"I would if I could, but I cannot, I know.
I need all my grain to prosper and grow."
Who will love a little Sparrow?
Will no one write her eulogy?
"I will," said the Earth.
"For all I've created returns unto me,
From dust were ye made and dust ye shall be."
It's a beautiful song, and it has a good message, I think, but I'm not sure I could use the name myself because of it--it would feel like chancing fate. I wouldn't mind someone else's little Sparrow, though I'd worry for that one in the back of my mind. :)

You might even provide a Heaven for them. We need You for that. Hell we can make for ourselves.

Just so you know...
there are many varieties of sparrows.. the bothersome and common called "house sparrow" arent even really sparrows, but weaver finches....
the blue sparrow with pink belly has history as a WW2 tattoo that signifies a US Marine passing over the equator.(one on eash shoulder for crossing both ways)
Also sparrows have a rich history in asian art.

Not for me - a sparrow is sort of a pest bird most places I've lived, kind of gray and messy and un-special; so the name just isn't very attractive to me. I guess depending where you live, Starling could be worse -- but I like that one.

I've loved this for a long time, I was thinking of it the other day! I like it for a girl only.

Yes, I was thinking girl too.
lmao. I have quite a few friends who have Sparrow as their surname so it'd be too weird for me... but Captain Jack Sparrow is pretty cool :-) I'm not crazy enough to actually name a kid Jack Sparrow but if I was... it's a pretty cool name. lol

I don't think it would be to bad as a middle name, actually I kind of like it, which suprises me because that isn't usually my style. I do agree that it would be to much as a first name, but I think Sparrow as a middle would be cute.

I'm kind of surprised how much I suddenly like it. I do like some other nature names though, so it's not totally out there for my taste, but for some reason it's not a name I've thought about before.
