[Opinions] Clayborne / Claiborne
WDYT of Clayborne? Too frilly?I like the nn Clay but I hate Clayton so I was thinking this makes a nice substitution for a full name.

I only think of Liz Claiborne. It doesn't make sense to me as a first name, unless it's honoring someone. Why not just use Clay as a full name?

It sounds very surname-y and pretentious, like it would turn out to be the full name of a main character who goes by Clay in a children's TV show, and he be teased relentlessly for it.

Claiborne looks less clayey, which can't be bad.

What don't you like about it? Can you be more specific?

not sure, just the word born in it, I prefer Claybourne, Claibourne, Claysen or Clayton

Clayborne reminds me of airborne...borne by clay? Grounded. Yeah, it's better than clay town. Both sound conservative to me.Claiborne reminds me of...when people write boi instead of boy...oh, and department stores, shopping, Liz Claiborne.

Ooohhhh no wonder Claiborne seemed so familiar to me, like a name already. Suddenly remembered being in a Bells and seeing all the Liz Claiborne stuff.

I like Claiborne more for some reason. Clayborne looks too much like "Clay" and "born" just put together. Claiborne feels like a surname-firstname, but I personally like those.

It's an ok name. I would go with Clayborne instead of Claiborne, though.
