[Opinions] Maven (M)
At the hairdressers the other day I overheard the name Maven (a man in his really forties). Maven is how I presume you spell his name. His name is pronounced MAY-vən. Also at the hairdressers two young children called Fox (boy) & Lou (girl)

It's not bad, and I'd use it for a sneaky, fox-like, double agent character in a fantasy setting (I truly intend that as a compliment). I also think it could work on women, due to the similarity to Maeve.

I guess it's similar to Maverick or Haven, but it sounds matronly to me.

I think of the word "Maven" i.e., an expert or connoisseurMy immediate association is with the author/blogger/activist Amanda Jette Knox, whose online name has been MavenOfMayhem for years. Her memoir, Love Lives Here, was super good!

I think maven is a Yiddish word that saw some use outside Yiddish speakers that means expert.
