I've seen it used for a goat. I thought it was great for a goat.
I'd probably also like it for a person, although I think I'd prefer Amal, Amalia, Althea.

I like it in theory, but I don’t think it works in real life. It makes me think of The Last Unicorn.

On the contrary, I think it's perfectly usable, after all it's made up of the popular name elements 'Amal' and 'Thea'. Yeah it's a little unwieldy in size, but it's not too far off from names like Euphemia in that regard. I really like how soft and elegant it sounds.

I like it, but can't imagine a kid in real life bearing this name. Maybe it can be used on a pet, or a story character.

When I was a kid I had a VHS copy of a fantasy animation called The Last Unicorn. The unicorn had to be disguised as a lady to stop it from being hunted, her name was The Lady Amalthea. And that's what the name is to me, a high fantasy unicornesque name. I can't imagine a little girl playing sports or just being a normal kid with this name.Thea is a viable nickname, I guess.
