The only Julian I've met used to wander around our college campus playing accordion, so I'm somewhat fond of it for that reason. If I forget about him, it sounds stylish to me but in a way that's maybe overly self-conscious or even foppish...more so than Damian, less than Florian, about the same as Fabian (and I like Fabian, so eh, Julian's okay).
Julianne sounds dated to me, similar to Marianne or Jeannine, but I think most Juli* names are pretty, and it's not an exception.
