[Opinions] Leviathan
I read a news story about a teenager named Leviathan, nickname Levi.
What is your opinion on it? Bad, or not so bad?
Would you ever use it as a way to get to the nickname Levi?

It's a pretty ridiculous name, and I'm assuming the news story you read is the somewhat local to me case about the teen that murdered his family. That alone is enough to ruin the name.
Levi on it's own is much better IMO.

Yes, that’s the one I read. It was awful.
But as I was reading it, I couldn’t help but be really annoyed at his parents, who named him that. I mean, come on! Whether you’re religious or not, it’s pretty commonly known as a sea monster.

I thought the same thing!
I just looked into it and found a Washington Post article that talks a little bit about his name: The parents met at a pet store where the dad worked and married when the mom was only 16. "When the couple had their first child a year later, they named him after their favorite pet: a large snake called Leviathan. 'It was a strong name,' Norwood said. 'Something unusual.'"

No. Just name the child Levi, 100% better.
Pretty bad. Who wants the name of a giant fish?
You don't need to do anything to "get" the nickname Levi. It's already a name in its own right. Just use it if that's what you're going to call them anyway!
Yeah, no. This doesn’t work.
It's terrible, and ridiculous. It's like naming somebody Goliath or Behemoth. No good reason for it. Even "getting to the nn Levi" is not a reason, because Levi is and always has been a name in its own right.
It sounds badass, like there's a weight to it, The Leviathan; it also seems normal, has a similar rhythm to Jonathan.
It's somewhere between Draco and Beowulf on the weirdness scale?
It's only bad in the way that Lilith is bad (which I think it is, but oh well, it's functional and sounds nice). Leviathan Judas and Lilith Jezebel would be a funny sibset.
Levi is cute. I don't think of Levi as a NN, so I wouldn't use a longer name just to "get to" it, and I wouldn't use Leviathan anyway.
But I can't really judge because I like names like Prometheus, which sounds even weirder, and the story behind that name's hardly pleasant.
