The religious discussion below made me wonder, which would you choose to name a daughter? Lilith, or Eve?

Lilith
Eve in my language sounds like "eeeeev" which is really hard to say without sounding whiny. I like Eva (eh-va and ay-va) but not ee-va or Eve. Lilith seems more mature, it has some soft sounds but overall it sounds fairly serious. It's hard to say if you're a kid but there's always Lily. It's so much like Lily and Judith that I don't think it's possible for it to sound edgy, even if people try to use it in an edgy way. I haven't studied the myth, but from what I've heard, Lilith is also more positive and a better namesake for a daughter.

Eve is stunningly simple and pure. It's becoming one of my favorite female names. While I used to prefer Eva, I'm pretty much over it due to the popularity of Ava (which is still very pretty). Eve seems to have more going for it, imo.
Lilith isn't a pretty name and it doesn't roll off the tongue easily at all (at least it doesn't for me).

Hilariously enough, the only Lilith I've ever known was it Conservative Christian from the Midwest.
I probably would not use Lilith just because of the Lilith Fair. I can't separate the fair from the name. Also, there is the fact that Judaism believes that Lilith is a demon. I'd rather my daughter not Google her name and discover that she's named after a demon.

But Lilith, is just ugly. The -ith sound at the end just sounds like a lisp, and I hate it.
I don’t love Eve, but it’s cute, and I can always call her Evie.

My choice is definitely on Eve. It's simple yet classic and nice. Lilith on the other hand...well, I wouldn't say that I hate it but I do feel that it's too lispy and also makes me think of a demon. (Thanks supernatural) ^_^ *laughs*
I also like the fact that Eve is more "normalized" Like, Lilith is nice in its own way but it seems to be more suited on a fictional character or a dog or cat or something. Just my honest thoughts.

Lilith just sounds freaking ugly, and makes my tongue feel like it's doing something not natural to it. Eve has a much nicer sound, though Eva is still easier to say for me. And Lilith is too self-consciously edgy for me to take seriously.

Completely independent of Biblical / Judeo-Christian Legend associations, I've never liked the name Lilith because I have trouble saying it. It sounds worse than Aurora coming out of my mouth, with those Ls so close together followed by the lisping end. It's like... I'm giving voice to a blob, or something. I almost envy people who can say Lilith with any kind of elegance.
I'm not terribly enthusiastic about Eve, though I do like Evanna, Evangeline, and Eveline ("EEN" ending). But Eve isn't a bad name, by any means.

Eve for sure. Lilith is pretty enough, and I do like -ith endings, but I associate it with the character from Frasier which is not a particularly pleasant connection, and I really find Lily to be offensively sweet and boring and I think it would happen as a nickname.

Eve is considered the mother of all living in at least three religions. She was deceived into disobeying a commandment, but she wasn't any more flawed than anyone else and probably a better person than most of us.
Lilith is a mythological creature with demonish vampire traits and is a pretty flat character. It is a cool name, but the namesake is trying to hard to be edgy.
Edited to add: Because nobody really believes in the existence of Lilith, she seems more like a fairy tale character such Dr. Frankenstein rather than a mythological being.

I like the sound of Lilith, but not the association - though more for cultural than religious associations. She isn't a figure at all in Christian teaching, or not any branch that I'm familiar with at least. But the name does have that sort of negative cast to it. It would feel more like trying to be "edgy" than anything else.
Meanwhile, I like the sound of Eve and I don't have a problem with its associations. I prefer Eve to Eva, there's just a certain sort of solidness to it.

That seems kind of like Azrael vs David. One is more obscure than the other, biblical David did some sketchy things, but I don't really associate the name David with being an adulterous peeping-Tom, the way that Azrael seems associated with death and supernatural beings.
Lilith is more obscure than Eve, but all Eve did was trust a reptile by eating an apple.
Lilith was supposedly a demon who killed kids. Eve is basically more like the whole world's mom.

To me, it helps that Eve means "to live/breathe" and David means "beloved". I'd like Delilah if it didn't mean "weak, languishing".
I don't really dislike Lilith, but I can't image naming a kid it, same as Azrael - it seems like Lucifer (fun name but off limits), except not quite on the same level, because it's less recognizable. I guess it's also relevant Lilith has had some use lately in the US, but I don't know how much that affects my opinion (Messiah has been used even more, lately, and I'd rather be called Lucifer than Messiah); popular use did help perception of Delilah some imo, though. But even if recent popularity helps dispel negative associations with Lilith, Eve's still been used longer and more consistently (without being overused), which is part of why it seems nicer.

Eve seems like a "good name" in all the usual ways, and (as importantly, to me) I like the sound of it.
I dislike the sound of Lilith - it's alright on paper but if I had to call someone that every day, I wouldn't enjoy it. The most believable (IMO) information I can find indicates that the name Lilith originally named a demon, not a person. And the biblical story referenced in the BtN entry on Lilith has no significance for me, whatsoever. I would not want to be named Lilith, at all.
