All I can think of is slang. It's not used where I live, so I don't even know where I've read/heard it (maybe it's in Harry Potter?), but I hear "Cor!..." and laugh to myself.
I don't think it works, by which I mean, I'd struggle to take it seriously.
Also, I've been called Tor as a joking NN but can't imagine being called that exclusively, so that might be part of why.
