Message: "Sirus" - Behind the Name

I met someone (a boy) named Sirus yesterday, SIE-ris. Sort of like a weird cross between Silas and Sirius, or like some kind of masculine morphing of Iris, ha ha. I haven't decided whether I like it yet. What do you think?

Did you see the name spelled out? Are you sure the name isn't Cyrus? I like Cyrus and I love the nn Cy.

Cyrus would've been kind of cool, but not this, IMO.

The sound of Cyrus isn't really my thing but I'd think it was cool on someone else's kid. I'd have to say that I'd personally have taken Cyrus over Silas, which I find creepy in a Children of the Corn Bible-thumper-ish way, and Sirius, which for me has been relegated to the "made useless by Harry Potter" trash heap of names.

I do, however, enjoy the female variant Cyra. That appeals to me.

Ditto to that. Cyrus is on my list, but I don't like this spelling of it. I looked at the title of this post and went "SIRR-ee-us... oh, hang on, SIGH-rus!" I think a lot of other people would do the same.

I thought it was Sirius at first glance. But Sirus is just the same as Cyrus, but looks misspelled. :-/

At first I thought I saw Sinus. Then I was thinking Siren. My eyes likes to see things. I guess the sound of the name isnt horrible, I see it on other people's child. I dont like the spelling though

It looks like they confused Cyrus with Silas. I do love it spelt Cyrus, and I like Silas too for that matter :-)
