[Opinions] Olena
I've been crushing on Olena this afternoon. What do you think of it? How would you pronounce it?I usually like Elaina but have two problems with it: 1. It would be misread as "Eliana" and 2. I really dislike the NN "Ellie" so I'd want to avoid anyone calling her that if I possibly could. I like the look of Alaina but worry that it would be swallowed up as "just another A name" among Amelia, Alana, Alannah, Amira, Allira, Ariana, Amaya, Amelie, etc. But Olena would stand out, it's a legitimate name and it looks and sounds quite pretty. At least that's what I think, wdyt?

It's a very nice, beautiful name. I would pronounce it as "uh-leh-nah"

My favorite variant is usually Elena (pronounced like Elaina, not EL-in-uh) - unless we're considering Eleanor a Helen variant, in which case my favorite would be Eleanor.Olena is pretty cool, though. Spelled slightly differently, Olenna is a really fun character in the book series A Song of Ice and Fire (and consequently the TV series Game of Thrones) who is also referred to as the Queen of Thorns, due to her house's (Tyrell) symbol being a rose and the fact that she is the queen of sass.

I know one and she pronounces it O-lee-nuh. I don't know if it's because she isn't a warm person or what, but I don't have good feelings about the name. It reminds me of Olean, the oil used to cook those lowfat chips that were popular for a while but made you reaaalllyyy sick.

I don't really like it, prefer Elena

I associate it very heavily with Olenna from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones.I’d rather use Helena or Elena.
