[Opinions] Vila
What do you think about Vila (VEE-lah)?
I 'came up with it' a few week ago and it's now one of my favorites if I ever have a daughter. The only thing that puts me back is that it's also the Swedish word for 'rest' (as in "I'm resting"). I did briefly consider the Wila spelling which would be pronounced the same here, but I don't like the look of it. And I really like how Vila sounds with my son's name.
Any other ideas I might like`Except from Vida/Veda.
Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

I can only speak as an English speaking person, and I don’t like it at all... firstly, because when I look at it written, my mind instantly changes it to vile. Even if I were to say how I instinctively think it looks, I’d say “Vi-luh “ to rhyme with Lila.
Maybe it sounds prettier in Swedish. It just sounds pretty awful in English.

I think it sounds nice. Seems unusual but unremarkable.
I'm not really sure what type of names would seem similar to Vila, to you. The sound reminds me of Milla, Nila, Aquila (uh-kee-luh), and Viola.
I'd also maybe put it in a group with these names Nova, Maya, Selah, Vera, Riva, Vesna, Nina, Alta, Veerle, Sylva, Pia.
I didn't think of 'vile'. My main English word association was 'villa'.

It makes me think of the word ‘vile’, so I think the Wila spelling would be better.
Yeah I get that association for someone who lives in an English speaking country. Wouldn't be a problem here though :-)
The only thing that puts me back, is that it seems like there's a good chance that an English speaker would say VIE-la, rhyme Isla - and that brings to mind the word vile. So I'd favor the Wila spelling, for that reason. I like the way it looks. You would probably not care about that association, though. So it's just a data point for you.
Overall I like it. It does sound good with your son's name.
My favorite V_a name is Viveca / Viveka.

Nope, the vile association doesn't really bother me. I actually really like Vile as a boys name and I did consider using it for my son but was too much of a chicken back then.
