[Opinions] Enamel and Pyjamas
These are not the real names of the siblings but are a random example of what their real names are similar to. One is named after an item of clothing and the other after a bit of anatomy. Mum couldn’t decide on names she liked so looked for words she liked the look of in the dictionary.
What do you think of names like Enamel and Pyjamas?
Hoping for
Ian Howard Douglas (Howie)
James Edward Theodore
Carys Felicity
Claudia Rose

They're pretty dumb but, unless there is a reliable source, I'm inclined to think they're an urban legend, like the various Urethra, Lemonjello and La_a tend to be.
No, really don't like these.
Well now I can’t help but wonder what their real names are! :,/
Denim and ??
Ok — I’ll stop.
Yeah I can’t think of any item of clothing or anatomy part I’d want to name my kid after. Besides Lace and Iris.

I actually know if, through the friend of a friend, a real life Denim. And his cousins, Stetson, Ford, and Lincoln.
While I don’t mind Denim’s sound, I think it’s awfully dumb to name your kid after a fabric.
And I truly don’t mind Stetson, Ford, or Lincoln (okay, I love Lincoln) but together they just sound ridiculous.

I'm glad that even my flaky teenage mother put more care into my name than that.
My stepbrother is named after a piece of furniture. Not on his birth certificate, but as a nickname (a true nickname, one that is not based at all upon the true name) and it's what he is called.
My stepmother's first husband wanted a Harry III, and my stepmother agreed, but she didn't like the name Harry and was determined to find a nickname. One day she walked into whatever room in her house, her eyes alighted on her hutch, and she decided that's what he would be called.
I always thought that was dumb. It's dumb to name a person after an inanimate object.
So what do you think of Mascara?

Idk, I can't make any sweeping statements about word names. I'd take into account etymology, connotations, symbolism, sound, just like any other name.
I can say that I think Pyjamas and Enamel, specifically, are dumb as names. Pyjamas sounds nice, at least, but I don't even like the sound of Enamel.
