[Opinions] Tycho
Before Corona my husband and I were in Copenhagen, where there are a lot of sights that mention Tycho Brahe and it got me thinking about the name. I like the astronomical connection and I love names ending in O.
What do you think of Tycho? How would you pronounce it?
I am liking it as a middle name. Something like Oscar Tycho.

I've always heard it as TEEko in my head, though I could make a stab at the Danish pronunciation if I had to. But, since I would be speaking English, I wouldn't embarrass myself and my audience.
As a mn, the pronunciation doesn't matter much. As a fn, I'd use Torquil, and in an alternative universe I might well consider it.

I’m Danish so I’m obviously familiar with Tycho Brahe. ;)
It’s pronounced TY-ko. The y is pronounced like ü in German and u in french.
It’s completely unusable in a Danish context since it’s so heavily associated with Tycho Brahe but I actually do like it.

I love it. It has been a fav for years. On here I mainly got the response that it's too similar to Psycho.
I say TEE-kho, which is the regilar Dutch way.
I prefer Tycho over the other variant Tygo, but at least that one isn't so "psycho"

Instinctively I would pronounce it like "ty-choo" like "at-choo" sneezing or "ty-phoo" the Typhoo tea brand, though it's obviously not of a familiar origin so it's unlikely I'm correct
I think it's pronounced Ty-ko. Which, spelled somewhat differently, is a toy company.
