[Opinions] Larue
This name popped into my head randomly, I think because a post on here reminded me of 1920s flappers and this is a name I associate with that era. In any case, there is every reason I shouldn't like Larue: it's a compound / combination name, derived from a French phrase that literally means "the street." Somebody in the late 19th century heard some French people talking about "the street" and thought it sounded so wonderful they named their daughter that, and the name was semi-trendy for about 50 years. It makes me chuckle to imagine real-life Larues visiting France and giving their name when asked, and then getting met with shock that's quickly composed because tourists are there to spend money. (This would be like me asking someone not from the U.S. and not a native English speaker what their name was, to be told Plethora or Pristine or something like that, because it was a word their parents heard and thought sounded attractive.)Anyway, I shouldn't like Larue... but I kind of... do? She's a strange one. Right now the combo Claudia Larue is in my head, but I'm interested in hearing other people's thoughts.WDYT of Larue?***Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381

It's sounds very aggressive to me, what with the sharp emphasis on the ROO part, and the meaning is also a bit ridiculous. Claudia Larue sounds like the name of a rich socialite who may or may not have murdered her husband.

What about Rhoda, or Roada? Roada Larue; Laine Larue; Ava Larue - Ava could at a stretch be short for Avenue.

I bet Avenue has been used, now that you mention it.

I used to be a big fan of Larue, it's the Rue bit that did it for me. I'd tuck it in the middle every chance I got. I still enjoy the sound but it's not something I'd ever use.

I like Rue, and Larue mainly sounds like a surname to me (I am reminded of Laverne, Lafayette, Lavelle, etc).If I think about the meaning, it comes across as beatnik in a way.I wouldn't ever consider it, but I don't mind it.
