What would you think if you met a girl named Data?

I would think that her parents just picked some random word out of the dictionary.

I actually don’t mind it. It has the same ring to it as Vada so maybe that’s why I think it works.

Definitely Trekkie parents, very small chance of being short for Davita but unlikely

I’d assume it was a nickname and that she had an actual, real name but just didn’t use it for some reason. It could be short for something but I’d be highly surprised (and then feel terribly sorry for her) if I found out it was her given name.
Data is a word, not a name IMO. (And I’m not taking Brent Spiner’s character into consideration because he’s a non human sci-fi character).

I'd think her parents were Star Trek fans.

I’ve been a big Next Gen fan since I was a little girl, but this is ridiculous. I would wonder if she had sisters named Worf and Q.

Very much depends how they say it. I can only stand Data as Day-tuh, and even then it’s not great and I have a huge bias. I might also cry, because I’ve lamented over not being able to use Data somewhere for one of my favourite ever characters. People would definitely think it’s ridiculous, even in the middle, right?

I would find it cringey. The sound isn't terrible, but the meaning is not at all namey and it makes me think of the Star Trek character. He is a character I find endearing and love, but whose name is meant to differentiate him in a way I would not choose to be as a person.

That it sounds sufficiently like "Date her" to be a real social disaster waiting to happen.

Unusable in a computer era.

1. It's a foreign name that coincidentally sounds like the word data.
2. loony trekkies / 90s cyberpunk posers named her.
I'll pretend it's 1 unless she says something about it.
