It's not really my style. However for what it's worth, there was a contestant on the Australian show Zumbo's Just Desserts now on Netflix named Brogan and she seemed to pull it off. I think the Australian accent helps.

Shoe is my first thought. It seems as absurd as naming a human being Sandal or Loafer or Boot.

It's less annoying to me than Logan, Brody, Bree, but I do think of leather shoes and Scottish brogues.

In any case, it looks like one of those surnames that somehow became first names, while being both visually and sonically harsh and unappealing. (For reference I'm not a huge Logan fan either, but that's at least an established name - solely masculine, in my eyes - and doesn't have the "Bro" thing going on.)

Brogans are shoes. That isn't some kind of arcane knowledge...
So it's strange to me that it's even a name for humans.

We actually know one other female Brogan a year older than her (mid-twenties, U.S.) and my mom’s friend used it as a middle name for her own daughter a few years later. The story is my parents could agree on Brogan for a boy, but had nothing for a girl until my mom saw an article about a female Brogan and decided it was Brogan either way. We’ve never called her “Bro”, occasionally Bee though. Overall people comment on how unusual it is, or mishear it for Morgan. I really don’t think it’s as horrible as these other comments are making it seem. Not for everyone, Brogan has definitely had a love/hate relationship with it both because of how uncommon it is and a phase where she wanted a more girly first name, but I wouldn’t be upset had I been given the name and not her.

I think it sounds horrendous, I'm afraid.

Sorry, I don't really like it. I find the -gan ending a bit tired and the "brog-" sound is quite clunky to say. Now that I think of it, I don't really like any -gan names, except for maybe Tegan.

It's far too masculine in my opinion.

Definitely a boy’s name. There’s a very good chance a girl with this name will be called Bro for short. I like boy names on girls but this wouldn’t be one of them.

It's ugly even on a guy. On a girl, it's hideous. I shudder.

Literally the ugliest name ever for a boy - comically horrible for a girl lol. It's like a burbling fart.
