Message: "Temujin" - Behind the Name

Working in child care, I see a lot of names. One that I always assumed was made-up was Temujin, which was the name of a boy I looked after a couple of years ago, until I saw it listed on here today. Temujin means "of iron" and was actually the real name of Genghis Khan. I wonder how his parents found the name and what drew them it it. Anyway, WDYT of Temujin? Have you heard of it before?

I’ve heard it before in connection to Genghis Khan. Weird to use it if you aren’t of Mongolian descent/have some connection to Mongolia.

It’s definitely very creative, but I think it’s pushing it a little too much. The origin is interesting, though.

It’s one of those names that seems like it takes guts, and maybe a little TOO much self esteem to use, if you know what I mean. Like naming a kid Xerxes or Hannibal or Boudicca. It signals to the world that you think your kid is destined for greatness and leadership, and lord help the child if they’re introverted and don’t excel at everything.

I met an (Iranian) Temujin once. He went by Temi.

I like its sound but I wouldn't use it for cultural reasons.
