[Opinions] Charis

I like Charis but not enough to use. It doesn't surprise me that different languages would pronounce a name differently. If I really wanted to use the ancient Greek pronounciation, then I might be disappointed that I live in a modern English speaking country.
Charis and Carys both have a tendency to be mispronounced. The spellings are not phoentic. I pronounce Charis like Care-iss.

A sweet former student of mine was named Charis, pronounced KARE-is. I didn’t mind the pronunciation, I liked it. I like Carys but can’t say I have a preference. The first time I heard this name, the person spelled it Karris or Kerris so that was my first point of reference.

I like Charis well enough. I knew a very sweet and kind girl in my senior year of high school with this name. She pronounced her name with the K sound. What was the original Greek pronunciation? I thought it was the same as the current one. Anyway, I've never forgotten Charis because she was already married! I believe she married in junior year. That seemed so crazy to me at the time.
I much prefer this spelling due to its meaning which I love (no pun intended).

1) Charis is sweet; it reminds me of caramel, which I love. An underused gem.
2) I wouldn't bat an eyelash at the issue with the different pronunciations - that doesn't really matter to me.
3) I only know (of) one Charis, and she and her family prn. it KAYR-iss, so that's my default.
4) I like both, but since I'm not Welsh (lol), I prefer the Charis spelling.
