I think it's fun and pretty. I first came across it when raking through SSA lists. It's definitely redneck, but in a fun way.
I don't think it does much good as a middle name. It's fancy and flashy. Like keeping your best dress in the closet. I don't think Willow is an inevitable nickname. It's very much WILL-uh-dean. I coluld see Willow sometimes, but also Will and 'Dene.
