[Opinions] Carlene
Inspired by Carlene Carter, who was born Rebecca Carlene Carter. I think her middle name is worth discussing, though. So, WDYT? Do you like it? Do you hate it? Is it better than Darlene? **Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

Too country sounding for me, but better than Darlene.

It’s way better than Darlene, but I don’t like it that much.

I have a soft spot for Carlene. I don't like Arlene, Darlene, or Charlene, but Carlene is pretty to me. I always liked the Phil Vassar song Carlene. It definitely has a country feel to me, but that doesn't turn me off as it often does.

It looks like a good name. Maybe with Carly as a nickname? I used it as the name for the main character of a Pokémon fic that I kinda forgot to continue...Her full name was Carlene Michaela Paddon Joy.

I like it and, yes, better than Darlene. I don’t know why...probably because I’ve never heard it and it sounds fresh compared to the popular Marlene and Darlene. I also like Karlene and Carlyn.

I think it's ok

I don’t like it. I’m just not a fan of names with the ene ending—-Marlene, Charlene, Darlene, Arlene.

I think it’s cute and much nicer than Darlene, though I like Arlene and Charlene.

I definitely dislike it. It sounds like a made-up mish-mash of Ca- names and -lene names. No way.

Just about anything would be better than Darlene!Carlene, however, looks odd. I suppose it's a syncopated form of Caroline, with the e to prevent it from sounding like Car Line, as in, available stock at Hertz or Avis. But it could also be a wash-and-polish product, or something to clean the wheels or tyres. I much prefer Charlene, but not enough to use.If I were Ms Carter, whom I've never heard of, I'd have stuck to Rebecca.

She's June Carter Cash's daughter by her first husband. Country musician, like most of her family.

Ah - thanks! I mostly avoid country music, so no wonder she was new to me ...

It's not horrible. She was named after her father, Carl Smith. I do find it a little cheesey when people do that.

My grandmother was named Patricia because her father was Patrick. I kind of like it.

Patricia is an actual name already, though. It has a rich history. Using it to honor Patrick is perfectly fine. In fact I like it. But Carlene is just taking Carl and adding -ene on to it. Making up a name is what I find borderline cheesey. Love the Carter Family, though.

Oh, I see what you mean. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I see what you mean.

Yeah, it's very much better than Darlene, but that isn't really saying much. I don't like Darlene at all.
Carlene is okay, but it's not as pretty to me as either Carla, Carly or Charlene. It's very country-western, because of the singer probably, but Phil Vassar also had a song called Carlene.

Carlene, Carlene, Carlene, Carlene...I'm begging of you, please don't take my man.

Carlene, I just realized....I don't really want to stay with my man all the while knowing that the only reason he's with me is because you rejected him because I threw away my pride and begged you to. Here, take him.

"Carlene? Oh, sorry, Jolene, I got you mixed up with somebody else. You can still keep away from my man though."
