[Opinions] Maisie
This is the daughter of a fellow poster on another message board I go on; she (Maisie, not the poster lol) just turned three the other day. WDYT of Maisie as a standalone name? Do you like it better than Macey / Macy / Maci / Macie, worse, or about the same?~~~~~formerly PeachyGirl86Rate my PNLs!

InfantileI definitely prefer it to Macy et al., which I find tacky because I associate it with the department store. However, Maisie is far too infantile and whiny for my liking.

I love Maisie. In Edinburgh, Scotland lives a fictional tabby kitten and this kitten lives with her granny as her daddy is a famous explorer. The kitten’s name is Maisie and I loved those books as a child. A neighbour Mrs McKitty attends a book club and the honouree president is J.K.Yowling.I will always think of that little kitten in a kilt and wool jumper(sweater) Maisie of Morningside but I still love the name.

I feel rather neutral to it. To me, it's just one of the many existing names out there that are pretty much just 'there', although undeniably cutesy. That all said, I do prefer it to Macy and it's variants. Maisie has a better ending sound, in my opinion.

I don’t mind it. My great grandmother was called Mary but was nicknamed Maisie for some reason. I understand though because Mary is sooo utterly boring.
I much prefer Maisie to Macy and that as I’m not a fan of the ‘acey’ names.

I think Maisie is so cute, but it doesn’t get much love here. I think it works perfectly as a full name and it’s so much nicer and far more classy and timeless than Macy etc.

Maisie is nice

I really REALLY dislike it. It sounds very juvenile and childish, and in my opinion, its not even a good cutesy nicknamey name. (If that makes sense) I could possibly see it on a small fluffy white dog.

Maisie has been growing on me, in that I no longer hate it. It's gotten very popular these last few years, probably because of the actress from Game of Thrones. I know several couples who've had daughters within the last five years that have named them Maisie, including a cousin. I don't think I'll ever quite be a fan of cutesy nicknames as full names though. It feels informal at best, childish at worst. Not that I think everyone needs a super duper serious grownup name when they eventually, you know, grow up, but it just sounds unfinished to me. I do like it much more than Macy and its variants right now. I associate that name with mean girls, based on experience. Maisie is sweet, Macy is harsh.

I absolutely love Maisie! It's so much better than all the other variants.

I find Maisie adorable. I know an elderly (and I mean elderly, she's in her mid-to-late 90s) lady named Mazie, which I thought was cute too. I prefer it as a standalone name. I like it way, way, way more than Macie and its variants.
