[Opinions] Morning
Anyone like Morning for a girl? I saw a woman on TV named Morning, although it's possible it was a nickname rather than her given name.

I don't think it's usable. At least Evening has the recourse of Evie.

I don't like the sound. Also I think of the fact that at work everyone says "morning" when they arrive (or they did when we were all in the office), so if your name is Morning it could get very confusing. I have a colleague with a non-English name which sounds a little like "hello" and that can be confusing as it sounds like someone's calling his name but they're saying hello to someone else.

NopeIt doesn't sound like a name to me. I feel the same about Evening.

I like it, but I thinking I'd like it better as a middle name.

I'm okay with Early or Evening, but Morning's too close to "mourning" for me.

Not at all

I think there is something nice about it. I have a niece (whom I have never met since my husband's brother does not communicate with the family) named Morning Caroline. She goes by Caroline. I don't think I'd ever use it because Mourning sounds the same.

Hmmm... it's oddly pretty. I definitely prefer it to Dawn. I think it could work really well for a character. It might be harder for an actual human to pull it off, but I'm sure people would get used to it even if it does initially seem odd.

I can understand why it would have a nice feeling about it, but since it's also a greeting you would have "Morning, Morning!" every day and that would get old FAST.

I could definitely see adolescent boys teasing her by saying they have Morning wood.Even though it’s not exactly my style, I’d vastly prefer Dawn in this case.

I don't absolutely hate it. I wouldn't choose it. I love Morna though.

No. How close it is to mourning is the first thing I think of. Daybreak doesn't have quite the same ring to it, but would be preferable. Also, there's Dawn :)

I would recoil in horror, usually, but there's a tiny voice at the base of my brain, reminding me that it's better than Dawn.

Nah. Sounds like "mourning".

Maybe...I'll give it a "maybe" vote. It does sound odd. But I suspect most word names sound odd at first until we get used to hearing them used that way. It's actually a pretty word and conjures up an image of sunshine and the birth of a new day. I could come around to it, I think.

Given that it sounds exactly like mourning, and the fact that it's also a greeting, shortened "good morning" it seems very silly as a name. Better to go with Dawn or Aurora.
