Well, the Aurora post made me think of Briar Rose - and then I look again and see this post! Did you have the same thoughts? :-)
Anyway, I quite like Briar, as I do many nature names (though Briar Rose together, today, is a bit corny). I used to dislike it because I thought it looked like a typo for Brian, but I don't see it that way anymore. I definitely prefer Briar to the similar-sounding botanical name Bryony (which I keep thinking sounds like "brine-y").
