It's okay but I prefer Bertram.

It's more of a last name to me, but Bertie is a cute nickname.

I like it. It's a little stuffy but that gives it more charm to me. I also think the nickname Bertie is adorable.

I know two, both generation Xers, in French speaking areas. It’s an ok name I guess, a bit harsh sounding perhaps.

I dislike Bert names and Bertrand is no exception.

Anything that reminds me of Bertrand Russell is a good thing. I'm not sure if his name was pronounced in the French way or as if it was English, so that's an issue. I think I'd be more likely to use Bertram, nn Bert - the name of a friend's father too, which helps.
