I too dislike the Michaela spelling, even if it is the original. It just doesn't look quite right.
Mikaela is fine. I prefer Makayla or Mikayla. Makayla is our daughter's middle name. I don't really remember how that was decided on, exactly. I feel like I slightly prefer Mikayla, but I don't think it occurred to me at the time.
