[Opinions] Re: Love the name, hate the nickname

Hm, we are like opposites on that name. I like Gaby / Gabi more than I like Gabrielle. I also like Gabriela more than Gabrielle. Gabriella doesn't strike me as particularly French, the way Giselle or Gisèle does. Gabrielle is like Danielle - a standard English feminine form, IMO. It's Gabriel for girls (I don't mind Gabe either!). I'm not a fan of Briella - seems fluffy to me as a full name.
The queen of the category, for me, is Charlotte. Not that it needs a nickname. But Lottie and Charlie (f) I hate very much.
Next in line for the throne:
Marcella (I hate Marcy)
Conrad and Constance (Connie!)
Emerald (Emmy)
Francis m (I don't really care for Frank and Frankie.)
Vincent (It's Vince that I don't like. I don't mind Vin)
