In an English speaking context, I like Rick as a nickname but I think Richard is nice enough not to need a nickname

Regardless of whether it's in my Top 10 at any given date, I would name my son Richard in a heartbeat. It's a family name, and has belonged to people I loved and admired while growing up - namely, my grandfather (this December will be 1 year he's been gone) and great-grandfather. I used to think I'd use the nickname Ricky as he grew up (then maybe Rick) - but because my grandpa went by Rich his whole life I think I'm more likely to use Richie now.

Richard is a bit like a male version of Deborah - let down flat by its nns. As it stands, I like it enough to use, but I probably wouldn't because of the sheer awfulness of Rich and Dick.

I kind of like it in full. I don't like the nicknames, though.

Richard is decent at most, but I would never use it. I’d give it a 5/10.
