What are your thoughts on Jacob, minus the pedestrian nickname 'Jake'?

There's a simple regality in Jacob, in my opinion. I especially fancy it when it goes with a hyphenated / double surname, eg

Jacob Baron-Copeland

Jacob Williamson-Cohen

Jacob Addams-Silver

So...

Jacob?

I love Jacob! It is my sons middle name, but spelled Jakob (We live in Germany).

I think it sounds sullen and unimpressive, with harsh "YK" and "UB" sounds.

For some reason, every Jacob I've known has been a large-build, unfortunate-looking bully. Every single one. That's what I picture when I hear this name so I'm not a fan at all. I actually much prefer Jake.

I don't care for it. Personally, it sounds whiny and childish, no offense. Not my favorite Biblical names out there. But it's not the worst name, Jacob is harmless at best.

All of the Jacob’s I knew were annoying as hell. But the name itself is decent at most I guess.

Objectively, Jacob is a good name. I see why it caught on in popularity - and not a whole lot of names end in B, so it doesn't really "blend in" and fade. That said, I have known so many Jacobs (and Jakes) that I would feel weird using it myself.

I love Jacob and it’s not common here. I only know one person called Jacob and that’s my friends little boy he’s 6 years old. They picked Jacob as mum is German and dad’s English and they wanted a name that worked in both countries.
