I adore Lysander. Sometimes I can't decide which I like more, Lysander or Lysandra, because they are both so lovely. But I think I enjoy the sound more for a boy name. It's delicate and handsome at the same time.

Some talk of Alexander,
And some of Hercules;
of Hector and Lysander,
And such great names as these.But of all the world's great heroes,
There's none that can compare,
To the tow-row-row-row-row-row-row
Of the British Grenadiers
That's what I think of when I hear Lysander - my Mum used to sing me this song when I was a wee little thing so it's the only context I had for the name for a long time.I think it's nice, but perhaps not the easiest to wear.

Very handsome!I like it a lot. Sandy and Sander are winsome nicknames.

Reminds me of Bystander. No thanks.

I like it! It's definitely a one-character name but that doesn't bother me in terms of using it IRL, especially as a middle name. As a first name it would probably end up with the nn Sander.I also like Lysandros and Lysandra.

I like it as a middle name but not a first name.

I want to like it, but I think it sounds like antiseptic or disease-related:
lysol, listeria

I’m not sure how to pronounce it. LIE-sander or LEE-sander?

When reading Shakespeare’s A Midsomer Nights Dream at school we pronounced it Liesander.
