I prefer Amaranth for a boy.

For a girl: Mara, Amy, Randy/ Randi/ Randee, Marana, Ama

Meh. It’s a bit too frilly for my tastes and feels like just another Samantha.

I like Amara, Marey, and Anthie as nicknames.

I know of an Amarantha “Mara”, but I wouldn’t use a nickname

I love it! I don't like Amy, and Ama or Ami is a more natural nickname anyway since Amarantha doesn't start with an "ay" sound. I guess Antha works too. (ETA: when I typed "Ami" I meant it to rhyme with Annie and not Amy)

I don't really like it much myself, but I think it's a respectable choice and worthy of being used. Ana could be a nickname. So could Amara, or just Mara.

I really enjoyed this name in high school - I forget what my fascination was. Nowadays I'd choose Amaranta over it.

Amara is actually my absolute favorite name! I love it heaps. I like Amarantha for its color connection and its meaning, “unfading.” It’s a gothic beauty imo. I’d never actually name a child Amarantha. :)
