I have loved Effie since I encountered it for the first time many years ago. I think it’s sooo darling!

We call our middle daughter Effie, short for Josephine. I think it’s cute!

DH's uncle actually married an Effie. And, it wasn't short for anything! There was nothing to dislike about her, but she made no effort to notice the existence of anything other than her own children and, later, their children, so you couldn't say she was interesting either. So all that Effie means to me is 'large, sentimental redhead'!

It’s a cute nickname, and it gives the bearer a break from the complexness of Euphemia. I can see it working for Euphrasia and Euphrosyne as well.

It is a beautiful Greek name. So elegant and sophisticated and the nickname Effie is spunky and cool.

I've never really cared much for Effie but Euphemia litterly sounds like a disease. :S Effie at least doesn't have that affect. /:

Effie is cute as a nickname, though I don't think I like any of the names it could be a nickname for (not big on Eu- names at all). I will say that my main association with the name Effie is the character from "Skins" (the original).

I think it's delightful! I only like it as a nickname, though. Do you think it would work for Euphrasia, too?

I watched Desperate Romantics and Effie Gray rather recently so I've gotten a soft spot for it.

Good thoughts. I like it a bunch. Euphemia reminds me of old lace, but Effie on its own is cool.
