I like it, but I prefer Athena. I have used Minerva on a kitten and we called her Minnie.

ETA: Minnie is a cute kitten name but I don't like it on a human, so I'd only ever use Minerva as a middle name for a real baby.

I dislike the NERVE part, and I think it's too closely associated with Harry Potter. It's better than Athena, though, and Minnie is nice.

I used to have a boss named Minerva. She was born in Mexico in the 70s.
For some reason I think it sounds more vintage than that - more early/mid century - like the same age as Rowena or Marcella.
Slightly prefer Minerve...I get the impression it's weird to prefer that version, but I do.

Anyway, I like Minerva. I agree with New_Chloe that stylewise it seems similar to Ursula. It seems a bit heavy to me but elegant.

I never used to like it at all. Not sure if it's that "erv" sound or not. But I've been sort of coming around to it recently.

Minerva is underappreciated. Yes, there's the whole "nerve in the middle" part, but that almost makes me like it more. And "Min" is a cute nickname.

I remember having a name dream once - and that's rare for me - about someone called Aline Minerva. I still think that combo is beautiful.

I really like it and I'm so pleased (and surprised) to see that others also like it. I always thought of Minerva as being one of those names that commands respect but is kind of tough to love - along the lines of Brunhilda and Ursula. Its beauty is not delicate. I have a friend from Spain who also likes this name and their pronunciation is so lovely - sort of like "mee-NAIR-va". The "NURV" part of Minerva is probably my least favourite part of it.

Not sure if I'd use it for a hypothetical baby of mine, but it sounds nice.

I love it. Would have used it in a heartbeat if we didn't already have a daughter named Hermione. Too HP with both in the same set :(

I personally don't love the "nerv" sound in the middle, but I'd be thrilled to meet a little girl named Minerva. I have met one, (a Romanian woman, oddly) and she was pretty cool.

It’s ok. I wouldn’t use it but I don’t dislike it. It has an interesting meaning. I think it might be cool to meet one in real life. Mina has some appeal as a nn. I prefer the apparent equivalent: Athena.
