For some reason I never have really liked Joan. It has a dark, clunky vibe to it. I love Jane though.

I'd love to see this name on a little girl. Names like Joan, Maria, Tina, Darcy, Nelly, Peggy, are SO CUTE on little kids.

I actually quite like Joan. I love the nickname Joanie, it's adorable. I could see Joan becoming a (slightly) more popular choice in the next couple decades: I think it's getting that vintage patina than new parents seem to enjoy. Joan has a strength that Jane lacks. I like rather light, sweet names paired with Joan:Joan Valentine
Joan Phoebe
Joan Christina (ok this is a GP pairing)
Joan Christabel
Joan Charlotte
Siblings....that's tough. You don't want anything that makes Joan look dowdy, and that's hard because Joan is dowdy. Maybe other old fashioned but eccentric-modern choices?Ruby
Bess
ClementineOtto
Archie
HomerI dunno I'm not good with sibsets

Decent, as far as names go, but very plain and dull. The nn of Jonie/Joanie however is adorable! (:

I don't think this one is quite ready for a comeback yet. It still feels pretty dusty. Maybe someday.

Joan is good, but I prefer Joanna (and dislike Joanne). It was so popular in the 1930s that I looked at similar names as mns:
Joan Margaret
Joan Patricia
Joan Carolyn, or Joan Caroline to make it more timeless
Joan Virginia
Joan DoloresAnd for today's world:
Joan Olivia
Joan Sophia
Joan Isabella
Joan Penelope
