I can tolerate it on a girl but on a boy it's obnoxious. Same with it's variants.
I think it has to do with the -er ending that gives it that 90s vibe that is vaguely annoying, like Tyler, Trevor, Parker etc.

I agree it feels super 90s/early 00s to me as well even though it was the most popular in the 2010s.
