[Opinions] Aoibheann
Yes, I know. It looks kind of crazy. But it is actually one of my favorite Irish girls names by far.Do you think it's usable outside of Ireland? Probably not.If not, how would you rate it inside of Ireland (considering that most people would know how to spell and pronounce it)? It made the Irish top 100.It's pronounced EE-ven (I have done a lot of research on the name and even though some people have claimed the first syllable can be AY in some dialects I have found this to be incorrect. However if you have more information I would like to discuss this). So what are your thoughts of Aoibheann?

Oh I love it. I don't think it's usable outside of Ireland unfortunately.

I wouldn't have known how to pronounce it. I'd probably say something like "oy-bean." That said once I did look it up, it has a nice pronunciation and I like the background.
7/10 nice

My instinct, with my little knowledge of Gaelic / Irish pronunciation, is that this is pronounced EE-van. In looking at the name, I see I'm correct! The name is pretty, I agree; sadly, I don't think it's usable outside of Ireland. I would've said unusable outside of a Gaeltacht, but it looks like a lot of original Irish spellings of names, particularly feminine ones, are trending throughout the island (Fiadh, Aoife - I've actually seen this in the U.S. - Niamh, Caoimhe, Éabha, Sadhbh, etc.).
