[Opinions] Re: Czech Celebrity Baby Names
Ooh, great names! I especially love Kajetan Leopold, Ladislava "Lada," Jenovefa, Rozarie, and Alfreda, which is one of my newest obsessions. How is it perceived in the Czech Republic (etc.)?

Kajetán and Ladislava are definitely more old-fashioned and quite unpopular going by how few people were born with those names recently in the CZ. The nickname Lada's immediate association is the folk artist Josef Lada. Generally, names ending with -slav and -slava have fallen out of popularity and it's an older generation thing. I've actually never heard anyone use Jenovefa before, it looks like a truly Czech / Slavic spelling of Genevieve.Rozárie I also haven't heard used before. It reminds me of Růžena, but most of the Růžena's I know are older women.
Actually, Rozálie has become very popular. But I haven't heard it with the "rie" ending.Alfreda has also not been common in the last two decades at least.

A Czech actress Jenovefa Boková boats this name. Jenůfa as a short name is a character from an opera Její pastorkyňa by Leoš Janáček.

I don't even know why. Maybe because we don't like the Czech version of Růžena very much. The diminutive of the Růže would probably not pass through the Czech registries.During the monarchy, Rosarie was once quite popular in old times.
