Now that the children are a bit older, the Morales family has decided to start fostering dogs for a local animal shelter. So far they have adopted two of the dogs themselves, and Javi and Sunny decided to let the children name them, which had some interesting results. The first is a male English bulldog who is named after a food. The second is a male terrier mix whose name is inspired by a horror movie character.

Layla has grown up to work on the Broadway scene like her mother- she hasn’t had a starring role yet but she’s starting to make a name for herself. She also recently moved in with her girlfriend, and while Mai is happy for her daughter, she insisted that Skimbleshanks stay at home with her. Layla’s girlfriend is a tattoo artist with a Roman-inspired first name. She usually goes by a gender-neutral nickname. Her middle name is a short classic name, and her last name is Irish.

Evelyn is getting ready to go to college. She is hoping to get an English degree like her mother. Her parents still own the used bookstore, and their youngest daughter is eager to help them around the shop, which usually entails hiding in a corner with a book. The Kents decided to stick with the Greek mythology theme. One of her names (first or middle) is inspired by the legend of Persephone, and the other is from England’s top 50 (https://www.behindthename.com/top/lists/england-wales/2019).

Sid and Farida are still living in London so they can stay near Farida’s parents, who have retired and Farida has taken over full ownership of their coffeeshop. They have moved to a bigger house to accomodate their growing family. Henry begged for a little sister for years, and they finally adopted a little girl two years ago. Her first name is Arabic to honor Farida’s heritage, and her middle name is after Sid’s best friend, who was named after a historical queen or empress.
