Three W names that aren't William and that are difficult to make feminine. What do you think of these?

No, no, and no. The only “ehhh, ok” one is Wolfgang, but I prefer Wolfram to it plenty. The nn Wolf isn’t awful.
Webster is a name for a frog and Wystan I have no other descriptors for other than plain ugly.
I like Wesley, Weston, Wilbur, Wilfred, Wilson, Wulfric and the aforementioned Wolfram for other non-William W boy names.

The webbed toes, I suppose...for some reason frogs (and scuba gear) came to mind before spiders for me!
Edit: I like the spider correlation more though, makes Webster mildly cooler.

I don't enjoy lnfns, and Wolfgang is too unEnglish. Wystan, as in Auden, is glorious and should be more widely appreciated; I'd love to meet a young one.
What about Wallace, or Walter? I know Wallace sounds like and is reminiscent of Wallis, as in Mrs Simpson, but with luck she isn't well known in today's world.

Webster isn't terrible, but the ster ending was something that got tacked onto people's names for fun back in the 90s. Mike-ster, Rickster, Megster, Jensster, like that. Also, a favorite TV show of mine when I was little was Webster, which was very similar to Diff'rent Strokes in that it was about a black kid (both of them played by undersized actors) being adopted by a white family.
Wystan, well, it makes me think of a car part for some reason, and Dristan nose spray, and also is easily misunderstood as Weston, which is pretty trendy right now.
Wolfgang would definitely take a certain kind of person to pull off. It's just very dominating and distracting. It also sounds like a wolf pack.

Wolfgang's lofty/rough/present/unsubtle, and if someone owns it, it's amazing.
I like Webster, but I wonder how much of that is because I had a red dictionary I liked as a kid, plus a nice teacher Mr. Web, plus sympathy for spiders. I do think it is, in theory, better than Spencer, but it'd need a reason to catch on. It sounds more laidback than Walter, at least, but even dorkier than Dexter.
Wystan reminds me of Hildred, Weiss, Tristan, and Kristen. I think the thing preventing it from seeming potentially unisex is its lack of appeal.

I love Wolfgang and Wystan but don't really like Webster.
